DUBAI: The new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 Hybrid has officially launched in the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant milestone in the legendary SUV's evolution.
The debut, announced by Al-Futtaim Toyota, sees the hybrid model arrive first in the Middle East, ahead of a global rollout, reinforcing the region’s close bond with Toyota’s most iconic off-roader.
The LC300 Hybrid combines 70 years of Land Cruiser heritage with Toyota’s leading hybrid technology, delivering enhanced performance, improved efficiency, and the off-road resilience that has made the model a staple in the UAE’s deserts and cities alike.
Powertrain performance
The new LC300 Hybrid is equipped with a 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 engine paired with a parallel hybrid system, producing a combined power output of 457hp and 790Nm of torque. This makes it the most powerful Land Cruiser ever produced. Torque has increased by 20%, while accelerator response has improved by 40%, offering a linear and dynamic driving experience across all terrains.
Toyota’s hybrid leadership, spanning 28 years, ensures that electrification enhances – not compromises – performance. Even in rare cases of hybrid unit malfunction, the vehicle seamlessly switches to petrol-only mode, preserving the model’s trusted reliability in remote conditions.
Off-road capability
Developed through extensive real-world testing across the UAE’s dunes, wadis, and rocky trails, the LC300 Hybrid retains its legendary off-road prowess. Insights from Toyota’s participation in grueling events like the Dakar Rally have been applied to boost the vehicle’s endurance and adaptability in extreme conditions.
To ensure continued excellence, the hybrid battery system has been waterproofed for river crossings and water fording, a key requirement for UAE adventurers. The built-in Electric Power Steering (EPS) improves low-speed manoeuvrability and control, particularly in rugged environments.
Functionality
New to the hybrid variant is a 1500W AC inverter with a 220V household-grade power output, ideal for powering electronics and outdoor equipment directly from the vehicle – a feature tailored for off-grid enthusiasts and desert campers.
Trim options include the VXR and GR-S grades, catering to customers seeking either refined luxury or performance-driven exploration. The VXR introduces exclusive Hybrid Jet Black bumpers, while both variants sport distinctive HYBRID Beyond Zero and 457TT badges.
Interior
While specific interior features were not disclosed, the hybrid model is expected to continue Toyota’s focus on comfort, functionality, and advanced driver assistance systems, all while enhancing the brand’s eco-conscious approach.
Sustainability
The LC300 Hybrid launch aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategy and reflects Al-Futtaim Toyota’s efforts to expand its electrified vehicle range. The introduction underlines Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy for carbon neutrality, giving UAE motorists environmentally friendly options without sacrificing utility or performance.
